The Future Of Payments

The payments space is fascinating.  Every single human on planet earth places 100% reliance on various payment mechanisms.  And many of these systems are based on an implicit trust, which is not rational to hold.

The reality is that to date, payments are complex and frictional, which has allowed banks and other specialist payment providers to profit handsomely.

But why can't something which should in theory be relatively simple, be free, instant, safe and accessible for everyone?

This will be top of my questions list for my fireside with Jan Pilbauer, Chief Executive Officer of BankservAfrica.  

I hope to not only learn more about the impact of the rapid payments project, but I also want to dig into some of the other solutions that sit outside of the control of regulators, banks and infrastructure providers like BankservAfrica.

Virtual wallets and crypto solutions are definitely topics to unpack in this call.
